SWAA Action Groups
SWAA Seeking Passionate Social Workers!
Are you a dedicated Social Worker in Alberta with a passion for driving positive change in our community? The Social Workers Association of Alberta (SWAA) is thrilled to announce the formation of Action Groups, and we invite YOU to be a part of this transformative initiative!
What are SWAA Action Groups? SWAA Action Groups are dynamic teams of at least five SWAA members who share a common goal - to collaborate with SWAA and actively represent the interests and actions of social workers across Alberta. If you're ready to make a real impact, this is your opportunity to contribute to meaningful change in our profession and community.
Once an Action Group is formed, members are encouraged to expand their networks and recruit additional members to strengthen their group's impact and reach. SWAA will assist in advertising and recruiting processes.
Criteria for Action Group Applicants: To be eligible for forming an Action Group, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be a current SWAA member.
Form a group of at least five SWAA members who are enthusiastic about collaborating with other social work members.
Demonstrate a commitment to advancing the interests and actions of social workers in Alberta.
Benefits of Joining an Action Group:
Networking Opportunities: Connect with like-minded social workers across Alberta.
Professional Growth: Enhance your skills and knowledge through collaboration and shared experiences.
Advocacy Impact: Contribute to shaping policies and practices that benefit social workers and the communities we serve.
Influence: Potential to influence how SWAA operates and how we advocate for social workers and the communities social workers serve.
Reconciliation: Special consideration will be given to Indigenous social workers who want to work on decolonizing social work and who want to influence decolonization of SWAA practices. While the group can be open to all social workers, we are hoping Indigenous social workers will want to lead this group.
Application Process: Interested in forming an Action Group? Complete the application form and email it to hello@myswaa.ca. Ensure that your application clearly outlines what you’d like to achieve with your group.
In your application, indicate a designated representative who will serve as the primary point of contact for the group and will liaise with SWAA regarding collaboration opportunities and updates. This streamlined communication approach aims to ensure clarity and efficiency in all interactions.
Don’t have 5 members yet?
Flexibility: If you are unable to gather a group of five members but are committed to advancing the goals of SWAA, you can apply individually to form an Action Group. In your application, clearly outline your vision, objectives, and how you plan to represent the interests of social workers in Alberta. If your application is accepted, we will help you to recruit members.
Collaborative Matching For All Applications: Upon receiving applications, SWAA will assess common themes, goals, and interests among applicants. We may then facilitate combining similarly themed groups together.
Application Deadline: Don't miss your chance to be a catalyst for change! Have your representative submit your completed applications to hello@myswaa.ca by April 5, 2024.
