ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
NOTICE OF MEETING
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the 2023 annual general meeting (the “AGM”) of the Social Workers Association of Alberta (“SWAA”) is scheduled to take place on:
Date: Thursday September 21, 2023
Time: 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Location: Online via Zoom
The matters to be considered at the AGM include, and are limited to:
receiving reports from the president, vice-president and executive director (annual report);
receiving the financial statements;
appointing auditors for the fiscal year-ending December 31, 2023; and
electing directors (candidate profiles)

Members are encouraged to vote for the inaugural board from September 12-19 via an online platform. A link to the vote will be shared with all members on September 12. Voting members who are present at the AGM will vote on a motion to elect the winners of the online vote.
Following the formal AGM, we are excited to announce that Christina Tortorelli from Mount Royal University and Julie Mann Johnson from the University of Calgary will present their research on and recommendations for the child welfare system in Alberta. Attendance is open to all members or social workers who want to learn more about SWAA, with full participation rights open to voting-members of the SWAA.
