Inaugural Board of Directors

SWAA members voted for the new board of directors between September 12 and 19, 2023 and we announced the results of the election at our first Annual General Meeting on September 21, 2023. The AGM included a blessing, smudge and encouragement from Elder Kerrie Moore and concluded with an inspiring presentation and discussion with social workers, Christina Tortorelli and Julie Mann Johnson.

Twenty social workers (all SWAA members) ran for the 13 board positions and we would like to thank all candidates. It was a very strong group of social workers - each and every one of you are an inspiration - and we thank you for putting your names forward. We hope to work with all of you for years to come.

The inaugural board will begin their work with SWAA at our October board meeting and we will keep SWAA members up-to-date on plans and activities.

The interim board of directors were chosen by a steering committee selected by ACSW. The inaugural board of directors is the first board elected by SWAA’s membership.
