ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
NOTICE OF MEETING

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the 2024 annual general meeting (the “AGM”) of the Social Workers Association of Alberta (“SWAA”) is scheduled to take place on:
Date: Tuesday September 24, 2024
Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Location: Online via Zoom
The matters to be considered at the AGM include, and are limited to:
receiving reports from the president and executive director (2023 Annual Report);
receiving the financial statements;
appointing auditors for the fiscal year-ending December 31, 2024;
considering amendments to the SWAA bylaws; and
electing directors.
ADDITIONAL BYLAW INFORMATION:
In follow-up to the previous notice of meeting and agenda, the following amendment to the draft revised bylaws will be considered at the 2024 annual general meeting:
MOTION: That the draft revised bylaws be amended by substituting the current section 4.11 for the following:
4.11. Except for Voting Members who are:
4.11.1. members of the council, board, or a committee of the College; or
4.11.2. members of, or candidates or nominees for:
4.11.2.1. a municipal council;
4.11.2.2. a provincial or territorial legislative or government assembly or parliament (including the Legislative Assembly of Alberta); or
4.11.2.3. the Parliament of Canada (including either its constituent bodies of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada);
all Voting Members in Good Standing are eligible to serve as Directors.
Following the formal AGM, we are excited to announce that Linda Kongnetiman will present on the topic – Stronger Together: Social Workers Rising Together.
A revised draft of the SWAA bylaws will also be considered for approval at the AGM. A copy of the revised draft will be circulated to all members along with this notice.
Attendance is open to all members, with full participation rights open to voting-members of the SWAA.
